Thank you, this was really interesting. I am a carnivore, but a careful carnivore. I do not raise animals for meat myself, but I do try to buy meat from small farmers who practice kind treatment of their animals, and are careful to provide a humane death. I avoid industrially raised meats and eggs. It is tricky to get the balance right, so I appreciate your discussion , which really is looking at best practices, relationally, yet has pragmatism as part of the discussion, and the reality of other ways people have to do things. Thank you for a thought provoking message.

Thank you for sharing your responses to the consent topic, Maddy. I love how you separate the person from the system. To me, the root is absolutely the system. Every organism lives within one—but we’ve messed with the natural ecosystems and reciprocity so much that it seems all we’re left with at scale are artificial systems that are inseparable from an unacceptably high price to the land, to our fellow animals, to the plants, to every piece of the ecosystem. Balance. Where has it gone.

Beautiful thoughts....we must be prepared to back down when consent is not offered. This is called respect.

I love the consensual relationship. I find if I come at them quietly and softly they respond more calm and agreeable. I learned on my own and so far it working out for us. I don't use hands on pressure anymore, I shift energy and use reiki.
